Educating high school students in cultural heritage protection: ELAICH workshop(Athens, Greece, 22-25 February 2010)The contribution of polytechnic schools, engineers and “industry” in the education of citizens for the protection of Mediterranean cultural heritageThe ELAICH project aims at increasing awareness of cultural heritage and its conservation, with a focus on built heritage, by general public and young people in particular. To achieve this goal, the project will create an educational tool with a multi-modal interface through which a group of high level conservation scientists will expose the general public to the modern principles of the preservation of cultural heritage. During the workshop, the conclusions of the first experimental course started on November 2009 and currently under-way in Greece will be evaluated and recommendations for further developments and a better sustainability of the action will be addressed. The introduction of a course for cultural heritage protection for high-school students will also be examined. Participants include projects partners, teachers, students and a number of additional stakeholders. The event is organised by the ELAICH consortium and co-organised by the National Technical University of Athens, Technical Chamber of Greece, Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Commission.
