Rehabimed

REHABIMED aims to stimulate awareness and to safeguard the traditional architectural heritage of the Mediterranean basin in order to improve the living conditions and to increase the management capacity of the regional and local authorities. This project takes account of the results from the Euromed Heitage I projects CORPUS and CORPUS LEVANT, primarily devoted to cataloguing traditional Mediterranean architecture, to record its specifics, and to promote it (publications and exhibitions). REHABIMED is more focused on the activities of rehabilitation of this architecture taking into account the various environmental aspects (social, economic, urban etc.) and must lead to pilot operations.

Activities and expected results

• Studies and research: identification of experiences and development of methodologies and management tool concerning rehabilitation, via the establishment of a network (15 associated countries). Seven thematic files diffused in 3.000 copies, website, quarterly reports; four working languages (French, English, Arabic/Spanish).


• Training / transfer of know-how: 1 Symposium, 1 Regional Conference, 4 workshops: Cyprus, Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco on "urban landscape", "sustainable tourism", "craft industry", "social action", aimed at 500 experts and students).


• Pilot operations on implementation of cultural heritage rehabilitation (Cyprus, Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco) as examples to reproduce in the area.
