The aim of the project
Byzantium Early Islam is an integrated project aiming to bring to the fore the region’s Byzantine and Islamic cultural heritage and to modernise its ability to manage it intelligently through co-operation. This will be by achieved with the use of conventional and new media methods and techniques, through improved training of professionals working with heritage (movable, non-movable and intangible heritage), exchange of experience, knowledge and know-how between the partners involved.
Target groups
Specialised groups: historians, archaeologists, architects, conservation/restoration specialists (movable & non-movable), museum curators, librarians, archivists, General groups: local/regional/national and international public (particularly the young)
Main activities
- Further Training & application on project sites (Campus)
- Research (historical, archaeological, conservation/restoration)
- Inventories (research and application of new technologies in Museums/Libraries)
- Awareness (publication/CD-ROM, internet)
